There are 2 special classes in Stepping Stones; Junior Stepping Stones and Senior Stepping Stones.
The junior class caters for children aged 5-9 years of age.
There are 6 pupils, a teacher and 2 SNAs in the class.
Stepping Stones is a calm, kind and caring environment, where the individual needs of the children are met.
The children are helped to develop social skills, emotional regulation skills, communication skills, play skills, gross and fine motor skills, independent life skills as well as developing academic skills.
All activities are differentiated, helping the children to develop to their full potential. If appropriate, the pupils integrate with their mainstream classes for academic and social activities. Each plan is developed to meet the individual needs of the children.
The pupils follow the primary school curriculum (excluding Irish) using concrete materials, group activities and 1:1 support.
